Steele’s Transportation Group (Steele’s) specializes in providing scheduled LTL Freight in Alberta and local pickup and delivery from our terminal hubs located in Calgary and Edmonton. Steele’s has a strong reputation for our service, which we have been building since 1957 when the company was founded by Eric and Kathleen Steele. Dennis Steele, who joined the family business in 1987, leads and operates Steele’s as a business partnership under FMi Logistics Group Inc. 

Steele’s is an asset-based business which utilizes a fleet of dedicated equipment, which includes company-owned assets and owner-operator-owned equipment working as subcontractors along with carrier partners to provide safe, timely and competitive freight delivery services throughout Alberta. Our main area of service occurs in the busy corridor between Calgary, Red Deer, and Edmonton, and we do have staff and/or drivers based in each of these major cities.



Job Title: Customer Services Coordinator

Job Summary:

Customer Service Coordinators (CSCs) serve as the vital link between our clients and our shipping services. They work closely with customers to identify shipping needs, recommend appropriate services, provide accurate quotes, and ensure orders are properly booked for dispatch and billing.

CSCs often manage specific high-profile customer accounts with substantial transaction volumes or unique requirements. This specialized attention ensures our most valuable clients receive dedicated support tailored to their business needs.

Beyond order management, CSCs provide crucial transit updates and post-delivery information, maintaining clear communication throughout the shipping process. They're also cross-trained in driver dispatch operations, allowing them to support and back up dispatchers during absences.

This dispatch training represents an important aspect of the CSC career progression path, providing valuable skills and opportunities for professional growth within our organization.


Job Responsibilities:

1. Emails, Calls, & Portal

• Booking orders and creating quotes as per customer request.
• Supporting customers, giving quotes, booking orders, and providing eta.
• Accepting new orders/tenders. Spot quotes.

2. Billing For Service, SOP’s, and Updating Driver Bills

• Billing customers for our service per their agreed rates and calculating driver bills.
• Create and update customer SOP’s.

3. Dispatch Support

• Cross-trained to provide dispatch support and coverage as required
• Assigning work to drivers and dispatching accordingly
• Routing manifests
• Building and completing manifests daily
• Problem solving and resolutions.
• Responding to the driver’s messages and phone calls promptly
• Communicating with customers (customer service support)

4. Qualifications/Skills

• Detail oriented.
• Can work under pressure and multi-tasking.
• Team player.
• Flexible and open to contributing as required.
• Ability to problem-solve.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Computer literacy skills.

5. Education and Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2-3 years of CSC experience
• Experience in freight management can be an asset.
• Knowledge of commercial vehicles and trailers
• Minimum of 1-2 years of Office experience.
