Steele’s Transportation Group (Steele’s) specializes in providing scheduled LTL Freight in Alberta and local pick-up and delivery from our terminal hubs located in Calgary and Edmonton. Steele’s has a strong reputation for our service, which we have been building since 1957.
Steele’s is an asset-based business which utilizes a fleet of dedicated equipment, which includes company-owned assets and owner-operator-owned equipment working as subcontractors along with carrier partners to provide safe, timely and competitive freight services throughout Alberta. Our main area of service occurs in the busy corridor between Calgary, Red Deer, and Edmonton, and we do have staff and/or drivers based in each of these major cities.
Job Title: Terminal Manager (Multi-Terminal Operations)
Job Summary
The Terminal Manager for both Calgary & Edmonton terminals is to oversee and manage all local operational functions, including dock operations, local driver performance, fleet maintenance coordination, and terminal safety compliance. While key support functions such as dispatching, customer service, and health & safety are centralized at our Calgary head office. The Terminal Manager plays a vital role in executing terminal-level operations and ensuring service excellence in collaboration with the broader operations team.
Role Purpose
The Terminal Manager is accountable for end-to-end operational execution across all terminals within the network. This role owns service performance, productivity, cost control, safety, and compliance, and serves as the operational second-in-command to the President. The Terminal Manager provides unified leadership across terminals, ensures consistent standards, and drives continuous improvement while developing leaders beneath them.

Reports to: Director of Operations (Acting: President)
Direct Reports: - Operations Supervisors (per terminal)
Core Accountabilities
· Own operational performance across all terminals, including on-time service, productivity, safety, cost control, and OS&D outcomes at the trend and prevention level
· Act as the single point of accountability for terminal-level execution and performance
· Translate company strategy into terminal operating plans and priorities
· Lead, coach, and hold Operations Supervisors accountable to clear terminal-level KPIs, including dock accuracy, handling quality, and OS&D prevention
· Review OS&D trends, repeat failures, and root causes, and ensure corrective actions (training, discipline, SOP updates) are implemented
· Collaborate closely with the Operations Manager to ensure terminal execution aligns with network plans, routing strategies, and OS&D prevention measures
· Escalate systemic OS&D issues, safety incidents, and major customer issues to the Director of Operations
· Drive continuous improvement in dock handling, freight integrity, and resource utilization
· Ensure consistent application of SOPs, policies, and compliance standards within assigned terminals
What This Role Does NOT Own
· OS&D case management, customer communication, or resolution decisions
· Freight claims intake, negotiation, or settlement
· Dispatch planning or routing decisions
· Daily dispatch planning or real-time routing decisions
· Direct management of dock labor or forklift scheduling
· Direct customer service case handling (except escalations)
Success Measures
· On-time pickup and delivery performance
· Cost per stop / cost per shipment
· Dock productivity and trailer turn times
· Safety and compliance metrics
· Reduced escalation to the President
Education and Experience Requirements
· Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or 5 years of equivalent business experience.
· 5+ years of experience in LTL or P&D terminal operations, including managing drivers and dock personnel.
· Experience and knowledge of the operation of Vehicles (Trucks / Vans), Trailers and attached equipment such as power tailgates, heaters, and reefers.
· Strong familiarity with transportation compliance and fleet coordination.
Qualifications/Skills
• Proficient use of English, both written and spoken; additional languages considered an asset.
• Task-oriented – self-motivating.
• Familiar with the National Safety Code and Provincial Transportation rules and regulations as they may apply.
• Geographical knowledge or the ability to quickly learn it.
• Ability to manage a P&L and operating budget.
• Leadership skills/Ability to lead and manage small teams.
• Ability to coordinate and manage a driver team
License, Registration, Or Certification Required
· Certifications and Licenses in industry-related qualifications support advancement.
· Current Forklift operator’s license, TDG Certification and a valid driver’s license. Class 5 minimum, Class 1 preferred.

Ø Position will be based out of our Calgary Head office with planned regular visits to the Edmonton Terminal.
